Haco Sacco, a regulated NWDT, is seeking proposals from qualified individuals for the provision of internal audit services. Reporting functionally to the Supervisory committee and administratively to the General Manager.
Overall Responsibility:
1. To provide an independent appraisal of all the SACCO activities by providing assurance, insight, and objectivity into the Society’s operations.
2. To examine and evaluate the risk management framework, controls, and governance processes, to ensure they are adequate and functional.
3. Proactively advising and recommending improvements on internal controls and risk management systems.
Scope:
1. Developing a comprehensive audit program and audit plan.
2. Implementation of an internal risk-based audit strategy and annual plan.
3. Reviewing and advising the board of directors on the risk management framework.
4. Providing practical solutions to improve overall efficiencies and enhance internal controls.
5. Monitoring compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, processes, and procedures.
6. Conducting investigations on suspected internal fraud and corruption.
7. Preparing and presenting accurate internal audit reports to the board of directors through the Supervisory Committee quarterly.
8. Liaising with external auditors during audits.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in any business-related field.
- Qualified accountant with CPA (K) or ACCA and registered with ICPAK.
- Minimum 3 years of audit experience in Saccos or Financial Institutions.
- Proficient knowledge of various Sacco software systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC, will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of government and other stakeholders’ rules and regulations.
